About Sara Rio Ceramics
Sara Rio (they/she) is an artist located in Kalamazoo, MI. After earning her Bachelors degree from Western Michigan University in 2015 in fine arts, she now spends her time running a small business making, exhibiting, and selling her ceramic art. Each piece begins on the potters wheel, is thrown and altered into functionally inspired forms using surface decorations including bright and vibrant glazes, painterly techniques, and carving practices. She describes her work as an exploration of modern interpretations to classic timeless wares.
