Payton&Annabelle & Maddy Ringo at the clover room
DOORS: 7:30pm
SHOW: 8pm
TICKETS: $18
Since picking up a music career through busking on the streets of Toronto, Maddy Ringo has been a fresh voice in the timeless tradition of American folk music. The daughter of a born-and-bred Canadian and an American peacenik, Maddy learned the Rise Up Singing catalogue as a seven-year-old, laying her foundation in the works of Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and the like. Now, based in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan, she brings a contemporary spirit to the folk format, with her multi-instrumental songwriting, with jazz inclinations and rich mezzo vocals. Her latest album “People of the Earth and Sea” explores vivid narratives of faith, love, and meaning in an ever-changing world.
Payton&Annabelle are a dynamic duo blending folk and alternative genres, characterized by rich harmonies and intricate acoustic guitar arrangements. Their musical partnership blossomed at The Kalamazoo Academy of Rock band program in 2021, where a shared love for artists like Simon&Garfunkel and Taylor Swift ignited their creative spark. The two have a full length album, For the Willows, available on all streaming platforms, and are currently working on their second album. Having opened for touring artists such as Kaya Kater and Sarah Jarosz, the two are quickly making a name for themselves across Michigan.
