Join Liv Lyszyk for an afternoon packed with practical tips and advice for photographers diversifying their client base. Learn best practices for photographing members of the LGBTQ+ community, including how to capture images with respect and inclusivity while avoiding tokenism or privacy intrusions. This workshop will include history, terminology, website reviews, posing tips, and even models for you to photograph after! Make sure to bring a camera, laptop/notebook, and an open mind!

About the instructor:

Liv Lyszyk is a twenty-something queer photographer living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography. Her passion lies in celebrating love and family in all of its forms. When not photographing weddings she can usually be found drinking coffee on her porch with her partner, while tending to her jungle of plants.

+ All tools/supplies/materials will be provided.

+ Please bring a notebook/laptop and camera.

Jerico Studio Weekend Workshop Details:

+ All workshops are held at Jerico Studio, located at 1501 Fulford St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007

+ Free street parking is available on Egleston Ave. right outside the studio building and on the south side of the building.  Please do not use the Fido Motors Cafe parking lot during business hours to ensure all customers for the cafe have a place to park. If you need a closer drop off due to accessibility needs, temporary parking is available to the right of the building. 

+ Please arrive on time or a little early to settle in before the class begins. 

+ The Jerico Studio strives to remain accessible to people of all abilities. There is a rear door that is wheelchair accessible down the alley. The studio has even hardwood floors. Another entrance to the front of the building has 2 steps. The studio has natural and soft lighting, and mics are available as needed. Cancellation Policy:

Workshop registration fees are non refundable if cancelled less than 7 days before the event. If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. Seats are limited and the projects/materials are carefully planned to accommodate a certain number of students. If you cannot attend and you give us less than 7 days notice, we will issue a credit for the full amount of your registration fee. The credit may be applied towards a workshop of your choosing. The credit is good for a one-time transfer and will expire 90 days after the original workshop date.

If a workshop is cancelled by Jerico Studio for any reason (weather, illness, etc) we will contact you and issue refunds for the full amount of the registration fee.
